November 4, 1864, POW transferred to Lt. Ira Quimby by Capt. E. D. Boyd, Provost Marshal in the field, list dated Fayetteville, Ark. November 5, 1864

Joseph Myers, subscribed to the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, January 1, 1864, Jefferson County, Kentucky,* claims to have been conscripted, Howard County, Missouri, captured November 15, 1864 at Fayetteville, Ark., received at Military Prison, Alton, Ill., December 3, 1865, died January 26, 1865, Remit. fever * dark complexion, dark hair, dark eyes, 5’ 9”

Joseph D. Meyers, Private, Perkins 1st Missouri Cavalry, deserter, November 11, 1864,
2nd Lieutenant, Company B, paid July 31, 1863 for 1 month 15 days

“To the Provost Marshal Mexico [sp?] The application of Mary S. Myers of Howard County, Mo. states that her husband Joseph d. Myers war forced from home against his will to go to ???? Army, he was notified to meet the Rebels at Bunker Hill & if he failed that they would shoot him. The whole county was full of armed Rebels and there was no chance for escape. I apply to have him released and permit to return home on the proof herewith submitted to wit the affadavits of John Fisher and Stephen A. Green. Mary S. Myers”

Note, appears these two file have been commingled
