Photographers of the Guerrillas

I would like information or assistance in researching the photographers of Missouri and Kansas during the border war and civil war, as well as post war who were trusted by the guerrillas, bushwackers, confederates and were allowed to photograph them during the period of time from 1855 - 1885.

Any comments on the below reference would appreciated:

Arizona Republican (Phoenix, AZ)--6/15/1899--Letter from Frank James

Mr. D. F. Greenwood yesterday received a letter from Frank James enclosing a printed account of Captain "Dave" Poole and asking for additional information regarding the last moments of his old comrade in arms. The account included a picture of Captain Poole which was made from the only photograph he had ever had taken. Mr. Greenwood saw him sit for it at the request of their leader Quantrill who had arranged with a photographer for pictures of all his leading men.

Your knowledge and assistance in my quest to identify these photographers is greatly appreciated.
