Correction, the 8th and 11th Missouri stacked arms and furled their flags in Shreveport on June 5, 1865. Over the next couple of days the remaining regiments of the division would follow suit, with the 10th Missouri being the last unit paroled on June 8. Parsons would be murdered about 9 weeks later in Mexico on August 15.
