Re: Jasper Charles Thompson Correction
In Response To: Re: Jasper Charles Thompson ()

Jasper C Thompson, who was in the 44 MO inf and the Enrolled Militia filed a pension on Mar. 4, 1879; I'm not sure what state as it does not say, but I'm guessing MO, as he is found on the 1880 census in Ray Co. Something that was confusing me was that there was another Jasper C Thompson, close to the same age, found in Ray Co. I believe I figured it partially out. Jasper C's wife had a brother named Jasper C. His middle name stood possibly stood for "Creed" [NOTE I said it wrong in my previous post]. If this man's middle name was CHARLES then the problem I was having is solved; however, if his middle name is not Charles, then I have more digging to do. I am basing the "Charles" name off of a marriage record (transcript) that has a "Thompson, Chas. marrying a Brown, Olive Jane". I believe the Olive to be Olivia, which is the wife of the Jasper C. who served in the 6 Regiment.

The are definitely two different men in two different units. Both men survived the war and are found living in Ray and Jasper County. I am not fully convinced that both Jasper Thompson's found in Ray Co in before and after the war both enlisted in the Civil War, or at the least fought for the Union.

More research, on my part is needed.

Thank you for all the information you've supplied.
