The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Capt Wm Robinson, Newton County

You misunderstood what I wrote if you think I disparage my ancestors and their acts of war. It is war. It is not meant to be polite or pretty, which is why I never romanticize it. What you have uncovered about Capt Robinson makes perfect sense to me and fits my intuitive understanding of who he must have been and the time in which he lived. I had long wondered why he left Missouri, when other family members stayed.

I want to digest all you wrote and respond further. I like how you started: "It is an onion waiting to be unpeeled." Yes, indeed.

What is "OR" from the first reply? And where oh where did you find the Capt Robinson muster roll card? I searched high and low!

More later, but again, thank you, thank you.
