Capt Wm Robinson, Newton County

I am looking for information on Capt William Robinson of Newton and Jasper County MO. I have a short interview with his wife Sarah (1925) which tells how bushwhackers burned their home near Neosho in the summer of 1864. In Sept she and others started for Texas. They were met on the road by her husband, who-- she says-- was on furlough to help see them on their way to Paris, Texas.

My great uncle wrote a family history in 1976, but he could never find any information on William Robinson, who was always known in Fannin County TX after the war, as Capt Robinson. My searches have led to nothing conclusive.

Recently I found brief mention of a William Robinson who served with Thomas R Livingston in the "Cherokee Spikes," which makes geographical sense. (It would also explain the stolen oxen William arrived with when he met Sarah on the trail to Texas.) Any help will be appreciated!
