Jim: I recall your earlier efforts to ascertain the unit your ancestor served in. I have searched everything I have on the Guard, and I have never identified his unit, although it seems likely that he served in a company in Col. Cyrus Franklin's regiment.

For others interested in members of the Guard, I suggest looking at Wayne Schnetzer's two volume publication Missouri State Guard: Patriot Army of Missouri Independence, MO: Two Trails Publishing, 2008. Wayne made a meticulous search of all kinds of records, including muster rolls, Compiled Service Records, county histories, newspapers, etc. He identified in excess of 23,000 men that served in the Guard at one time or another. There is nothing else like it that I know of that has ever been put to print.
