Rick and all,

I glanced over my sent copy and see that I forgot to name the patrol leader properly. He was Captain Daniel H. David of Company B, and the patrol consisted of 20 troopers mostly of Company H, since the clerk of Company H entered the patrol record you read into his papers.

Incidentally, the 5th [old] Cavalry MSM was disbanded the following winter because in short, the unit as a whole tended to be trigger happy, and committed more depredations upon the populace than most other of the MSM units, and the various companies were reassigned to other regiments. A new 5th Cav MSM was formed mostly from the 13th Cav MSM and the 5th [new] Cav MSM (as it is called in historical records) served with less controversy until they completed their three-year term and were discharged in spring 1865.

Sorry about that. Head space and timing gear problem.

Bruce
