Thank you for your kind comments. Of all manner of response I received from that book, some of the most memorable were from descendants of Major Enoch Wolf, from all parts of the country. One particular inquiry was from a descendant who was attempting to cleanse the Major from the notion that he operated as a guerrilla in northern Arkansas in the fall of 1863. Testimony was gathered whilst Wolf was imprisoned and, to the descendant's credit, it could be said the Union command were attempting to paint Wolf as a dangerous man so that their plans to execute him in retaliation for the Wilson episode would be more palatable. A better researcher on Northern Arkansas than I, may find this an interesting topic.
