Re: Reson/Reeves
In Response To: Who are these officers? ()

Terry I've struggled with this one a lot. Frankly I cna't come up with a person much less an officer with his name spelled Reson. I cranked up my soundex sources and looked at Resan, Resin, Reason, Reeson and still came up empty.

Next comes the stretch... While looking at the CSR for Pvt Reson of Louisianna there is a note that says see also Reaves. This got me to thinking. So here is my stretch... is this supposed to be Capt. Timothy Reeves? I know it was about this time in '64 that his company of scouts and spys became the 15th Cav. My understanding is Shelby ordered him to recruit and he eventually ended up under McCrae. Several places where Reeves is written it is R bump bump squiggle bump line i.e. did a curcive Reeve(s) get transcribed to Reson?
