If you read far enough...without your obviously liberal biases...you'll realize that the Federal Government did MANY things in Missouri that were illegal, not to mention unethical and immoral. We had NO CIVIL RIGHTS...we were placed under Martial Law; civil liberties were suspended; "oath of loyalty" was even required of ministers before they could preach; yes, guns were confiscated! livestock was confiscated! crops were confiscated! homes were confiscated! anything that the Union felt MIGHT be of use to the Confederates was confiscated! Missouri was unlawfully invaded because the Governor of the State at the start of the war refused an illegal order to supply troops to the Union for use against sister states (or against our own Missourians!). Can you, or anyone else, cite for me a clause in the Constitution that PROHIBITED a state from seceeding???

Under Martial Law, the Federal Government INSTALLED a "Provisional Governor"--usurping the rights of every Missourian to vote for their leaders! I could go on all night, but it probably wouldn't do any good...Some lessons are never learned! The Constitution was written to guarantee individual and STATE'S RIGHTS...a far cry from where we were in the Second War for Independence, and an even farther cry from where we are NOW!
