I don't know much about Missouri newspapers, but the Virginia papers did carry obits.

The Daily Dispatch: November 2, 1860.

In Manchester, at the residence of her son, on Wednesday, the 31st ult. after a severe and protracted illness. Mrs. Rebecca A. Burnett, consort [non-specific term designating husband or wife when the other spouse is still living] of E. J. Burnett. dec'd.

The funeral will take place from Trinity (Methodist) Church on this (Friday) afternoon, at 3 o'clock. The friends and acquaintances of the family are invited to attend.

On the 31st ult, at the Parsonage in Charles City County, Anderson, infant son of Ro. Anderson and Susan C. Wade, aged 6 months and 22 days.

The Daily Dispatch: January 2, 1861.

On Tuesday, 1st inst., after a short illness, Lucy Gray, aged 4 years, 5 months and 11 days, daughter of Thomas W. and Sarah R. Brockenbrough.

The friends of the family are invited to attend her funeral this day, at 12 o'clock, from the residence of her parents, corner of Clay and 4th sts. [Richmond, VA]

On the 31st December, 1860, infant daughter of Andrew and Mary Amanda Waugh, aged 19 months.

Her funeral will take place at her father's residence, at 11 o'clock A. M., Wednesday, 2d day of January, 1861. The friends and relatives are invited to attend without further notice.

On Fridaymorning, Dec. 28th, of pneumonia, Edward W. Ferguson, of Richmond, Va., in the 55th year of his age. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn their loss.
