Pvt. Prentice Cordry/Cordray

14 year-old Prentice Cordry was attending school under Mr. Kemper at Boonville, MO in the fall of 1864 when Price's Army came to town. Prentice Cordry and some of his classmates decided to quit school and join Price's Army. Prentice has a military record that indicates he joined Coffee's regiment. He was wounded at Arrow Rock and later is either captured or surrenders at Lexington. After being held at Warrensburg he is sent to St. Louis. He is hospitalized and the service record card also indicated a date of death. However, he must have recovered, because he is released under a special order the following month.

My question is...has his story been written? I did a couple of online searches and came up empty handed. If I have found the correct family he is a nephew of Col Coffee's wife and the grandson of Rev. Samuel J. Weir of Dade County. From what I found in his service record, I would really like to read the whole story. Jim Morris
