Thank you John, here is what I found when I started digging into the Reynolds County Barnes clan. Thomas Barnes, the founder of Barnesville, brought his family first to St. Francis County and stayed there about 2 years before moving down to Reynolds County. (1835-1837) He, (Thomas Barnes, b. 1804 Wilkes County NC), was the son of Edward Barnes, b. 1765 Wilkes NC. Edward was a first cousin to George Washington Barnes, b.1796 in Wilkes NC. George Washington Barnes was the father of Reuben. So, the two families were members of the same clan. Two members of the Reynolds County bunch, Thomas S. Barnes and John S. Barnes served under W.T. Leeper in Company B of the 12th State Militia during 1862-1863 prior to Leeper going to the 3rd Reg. Interesting ties just keep popping up.
