Jim,

Thank you for posting the information that you did for me about my husband and your friend. He was very loyal and very much a Renaissance man. I will miss him and I want to thank you for sharing him with me for the brief time that I had with him. Jim the hours that both of you spent on finding information on your book was well worth it. I remember reading the finished product and crying after I read it. I mean it was that good. I usually am not into reading historical books but I decided to do it this time around and my husband made sure that I caught all of the errors and also told him not to be frustrated because as you know being an author is a very lonely occupation. He loved talking to you and sharing the information and also the tons of emails. I remember reading and typing the email responses for him toward the end of his life because he was tired. I loved re-reading the questions. I have great memories of my husband and also for those of you who do not know there is a memorial out in Lexington, Mo which he actually wrote and also there is the museum out there where he made sure that all of the exhibits were accurate. I went there and I was impressed (I was also pushed to the back of the tour cause people wanted to get closer to him and I am not that tall)--he looked around for me and I told him I was listening and he finally brought me closer to him so that he could show me all of his hard work that he did---it was a labor of love. I enjoyed that time that we had together visiting the museum and also walking the grounds there in Lexington, MO. He told me once where most wives would demand that they should be taken to more romantic spots I wanted to go to battlefields with the husband. Go figure I was addicted to the trips and I loved the battlefields and the history. I did not like the snakes however but I got used to running as far away from them as I could get. It is my fondest wish that future generations keep the dream alive and that dream was to educate people as to the real cost and also a price we are still paying for ignorance--when the truth is twisted and not spoken. Thank you for being my husband's friend and co author but more than that thank you for being there for me when I lost this wonderful man that I had the privilege of calling my husband and soul mate.

Anne
