I would like to thank all that have written to me about my husband. He was 52 when he was taken from me and from you. He was working on yet another book when he was taken about his beloved subject matter. I am his wife and I have benefitted from him and being able to walk the battlefields with him. I thank James for posting the news about his passing on here for me. I want to say that the journey that he started with his writing is not over because it is now up to the rest of you to finish his legacy in getting the truth out there for everyone to learn from it. He was a scholar and a brilliant researcher--he never ever wrote a word that was not true and as his editor on the second book that he put out with his friends I can tell you the effort that he put into the books he wrote or edited was well worth it.

I loved him for being an author and more than that he was a brilliant yet giving person who gave hours of his time to make sure that people who asked questions about the subject matter were stating the truth and not telling a lie. He took his job as author seriously and more to the point he loved it as it was his passion.

Again I thank you all for remembering my loving husband and the man that I fell in love with. I feel in love with him when he took me to a battlefield and I had to overcome my fear of snakes which is legendary. He was patient with me and he was also laughing because he said,"I have never seen anyone move that fast." I think I broke the land record for moving away from snake by a woman. I will say this that he loved his heritage and I loved learning about it from someone who took the time to tell the truth all of it.

Please keep his dream alive by writing and making sure that the next author of books tells the story all of it. He loved to research. I should know because I was in the stacks with him and I did not mind because it was as it will always be to me a labor of love.

Thank you for the kind words that I have read about my husband and my best friend. He may be gone but he is not forgotten.

Anne H, Peterson wife of Richard C. Peterson now and for forever
