I really appreciate knowing the true name of Pony Hill. I read not in a reply to this forum but in an attachment to a query to this forum just within the last two or three months telling about Hill's drinking problem and demise just a few years after the war. I tried to find that message for you, but could not. I guess that attachment and message is buried deeper than I thought and part of a chain I failed to recognize as coming from the Vernon County area. Not much help, huh?

I see in the 1860 census that Hill had a little son named after him--another James Napoleon Hill. What became of the little guy?
