Thanks you for the response. Our notorious "Pony" of Vernon Co. is my husbands greatgrandfather. He is James Napoleon (Pony) HIll. The family story is that grandpa was killed in the Civil War--the end! We have found references to him in text, found Elizabeth Jane Doke (wife), found legal guardianship papers for their son, but I can't find where/when/what was the end for Pony himself.
