When you write "according to history" regarding what actually happened to those seven returning Confederate soldiers are you referring to "oral history of this neighborhood" or "Cato family history" or what? I mean no disrespect, because I have an awareness of what happened to the Cato family during the war, but to what history are you referring? Some of us are trying to pin down sources for this tragedy to render proper respect to those involved. When I write about what happened on that day I have only the one source that I cited above other than the monument itself and these men's military service record. Can you give me another source?
History is whatever you make it: good, bad, faulty, folklore, or falsehood. Please help me to write it correctly.
