Re: Erasmus W Benton

Erasmus W Benton
Born 1825 Daviss Co Kentucky(in Ky in 1840 census) married Elizabeth Dulceny Huffman 21 September 1848 in Boone Co Mo. He and wife are located in District 8 Boone Co in 1850 with 1 daughter. Then in 1860 in the hotbed of guerrilla recruiting Rockyfork Boone Co. He appears in the 1863 draft registration in Rockyfork Boone Co. He has a son Erasmus W Benton Jr (find a grave confuses the two). To conflate further there is a Erasmus L(oyd) Benton in Lafayette MO who survived the war. These two have online genealogies that are intermixed.

Dulceny is found stillin Boone Co in 1870, widowed with a house full of kids aged 5 to 19. There is a US Marshall confiscation proceeding against Benton published in 1866 that also includes several names of none guerillas including Crump. It is here:

I cannot find any formal military info under the name of Erasmus Benton other than a possible fuzzy link to a Lt Benton, served with Porter/Shelby referred to in a UDC list.
