Re: Samuel Fookes
Anita: You mentioned you have information about many of the bushwhacker murders in Morgan County. Do you have information about Paddy Mullins who was executed on April 23, 1864? My great-great grandfather Peter Hays was killed on August 20, 1864, probably in retaliation for testifying again Paddy for stealing cattle. Two other men were also killed that night for the same reason. On the 1860 census for Moreau township in Morgan County, there is a William P. Mullins about the right age that lived on a farm between two of the men killed that night. I am curious if William P. might be Paddy - perhaps the P. was for Patrick. I am also curious about John Farmer. The census shows he lived in the area, but not sure if there was any other connection. I believe he is buried at the Thixton cemetery as there is a J. Farmer buried there with only a rock to mark his grave. My grandfather and Peter Thixton are buried at Newkirk Cemetery in Moniteau County. Any information would be appreciated.
