My gg grand pa, Basile Sance ,1st La. Cav. Co k,( union) at the end of May 1865 was sent to Washington, La and when they arrived there was a Confederate force there not yet surrendered, with more arriving daily, (c.s.a. Cpt. Stearns) not parolled and armed.
