The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

Re: carol jones home and beaseley's place

I recently ran across a message sent to Col. R.L Capers 5.13.1865 from Gen. Brent...in the message Brent advises Capers that he is to take what is left of his regiment and proceed to Natchitoches...one of the posible routes suggested by Brent is to "go by Beasley's Bellwood..." I believe in post war years Beasley's Bellwood became Bellwood Academy which in turn became Bellwood,La.. Beasley's Bellwood , if in fact this is the same location, would have been located (Civil War) on the Old Stage Coach Road that provided an acess for Natichotes and Alexandria travelers the path to Texas, possibly, via Burr's Ferry. A search of the Beasley Cemetery revealed a James Beasley which would have been a mature adult during the years in question. Could it be that Beasley mentioned in Gen. Taylors reports and Gen H. Bee's reports for the Battle of Monetts Ferry, be the James Beasley Bellwood Plantation, the future site of Bellwood, La.? ( n31 31 38.6214 / w 93 12 19.6014).Beasley (Beaseley) in one of their reports seen spelled both way's.
As far as Carroll Jones...I am currently under the impression that the John Carroll Jones House near Natchez, La. was purchased by Jones following the Civil War. As to the location of his home during the war, providing they are the same person , remains open for suggestion.
Really need someone solid confirmation concerning both.
All help appreciated.
