Re: carol jones home and beaseley's place

It would appear from the Old Beasley Cemetery records that Beasley's Bellwood Plantaion became the post war Bellwood Academy and sometime later Bellwood,La. was named a few miles distance.....all within the area of a few miles.(La 117)
America in the Civil War states that Carroll Jones place was slightly South of Hineston, La.(La 121). From La 28, Bayou Boeuf, the Mermentau, the Calcasieu... either directly, or indirectly has access to the Gulf of Mexico. This made Hineston a depot and a Jayhawkers haven.Carroll Jones was a Jr., Father being named John Carroll Jones Sr., I am not certain which lived at Hineston and which purchased the Carroll Jones House, post Civil War, near Natches,La.
There was an Old Stage Coach Road that ran from Texas to Pearson,Statestop,Kisatchie,Beasleys Stage Stop,Devils Back Bone, finally stopping in Natchitoches. Beasley also had a crossing over Bayou Kisatchie.
Both were used by General Taylor forces as gathering places and depots.
