Just got access tonight to Louisiana Confederate Pension Applications, and I found the file that the original letter from the Major (describing the yellow coats) was supposed to be in, but, alas and alack(!), it wasn't there.

By the by, my only child -- precious and talented daughter Emily -- is in Graduate School in Bath Uni, near Bristol, so it's a treat to receive an answer to my query from "the old country"!
