A historian working on a study of Asians serving in the Confederacy contacted me looking for any documentation of Asians in Louisiana units. He said he thought there might have been a Filipino in the Avegno Zouaves or Avegno Rifles. In researching Lee's Tigers, the only references I found where some soldiers who were listed as "Indians" under place of birth, but it wasn't clear if they meant Native Americans (which I think is most likely) or India Indians. Anyone know of Asians who served in the Confederate forces?
