Is there any remote possibility (given the French name and the generally phonetic spelling of many names and the thick brogues that many soldiers spoke in) that he is this man (from Booth's LA CS soldiers):

NAQUIN, Ulgere Devinsy. Pvt. Born 14 Nov 1830, Lafourche Interior Parish. Son of Pierre Paul NAQUIN, fils & Marguerite Céleste DUGAS of Lafourche Parish. Married, age 27, Azelie, daughter of Valery ONCALE & Azelie TREGLE, 29 Apr 1858, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Thibodauxville. On U.S. POW roll, captured Labadieville, 27 Oct 62. Paroled Thibodaux, 4 Nov 62. No further record in Booth. // Booth, LA Confed. Soldiers, 3(1):1252: Ulgere Nauin. Hébert, D., South LA Records, 1:411, 3:386: Ulgere NAQUIN, Ulgere Devinsy NAQUIN. // Brother of Auguste Zenon NAQUIN of Company F, this regiment.

I realize that this is more than a "long shot," but, hey, one tries! -- Jim Huffman [Zhiehm Oughmehn], LA Fire Battalion
