Re: Question for Steve Mayeux/Fort DeRussy

No sir. I've found information in my family history research to prove that J. P Aymond was not William Aymond. They were cousins.

I fear that William does not have a Serivce Record on file. I've not found it before now. However, when I saw his name listed in Steve's book, I thought maybe he found some information that I've not seen/thought of before.

William Aymond lived in the Cottonport area. His father was Etienne (Stephen) Aymond. He was a farmer with a wife (Clarise Ducote) and several children (Joseph Douglas Aymond is my GGGrandfather). He died in the war, I'm pretty sure. I have a copy of a probate record (1866) that lists his properity and succession to his wife/children. Evidently, he was a successful farmer. He had a sizable properity and two slaves...however, the slaves do not show up in the succession records because it wass after the war. I don't know exactly when or where he died or where he is buried. I didn;t even know he was in the war until I found these two penison applications in the State Archives.
