Question for Steve Mayeux/Fort DeRussy

Steve,

I was wondering if you could help me find the service record for William Aymond. His widow filed a pension application in 1900. It listed his military unit as "Independent". It also states that he died of disease in spring of 1865 at Alexandria, La. However, the application was not approved. She filed another application in 1906. It lists his military unit as Dubecq's(can't quite make out the word but I think this is close) Co. H, La. Cavalry under Col. Harrison. It states that he died in 1864 at Alexandria. His application was not approved either.

I was looking through the appendix in your book on Fort DeRussy. It lists soldiers from the Crescent Artillery Co. A that were captured in the fort on March 14, 1864. It lists pvt. William Aymond among these men. I believe that this man may be my Great Grandfather. If I remember from that book appendix, it listed Hutton as the Col. of the Crescent Artillery. So maybe this is the Col. Harrison referred to in the 2nd pension record filed in 1906?

Can u help me find more information about William?

Thanks,

Wayne Aymond Jr.
