Dewitt Clinton Bonham was born 1-5-1819 in Lancaster County, PA, the son of Samuel and Margaret (Dritt) Bonham.
He attended West Point 1835-38 but did not graduate.
A planter and attorney in LA and MS prewar. Married Mary Dameron.
Died 12-24-61 of typhoid at Camp Beauregard, KY.
Buried Cedar Hill 1-3-62, according to Fisher funeral home records.
Related to the South Carolina Bonham family. First cousin of General Milledge Luke Bonham and Alamo hero James Butler Bonham.
