Felix J. Staton is the only Staton in Company A of the Third Kentucky Infantry, CSA. The differences you found are inaccuracies in the indexing of the original military records.

Staton, Felix Johnston: 3 Lt./2 Lt./1 Lt./Capt.; age 27, enlisted 7/5/61 at Camp Boone, TN; elected 3 Lt., date of rank 7/5/61; promoted to 2 Lt., date of rank 10/25/61; promoted to 1 Lt., date of rank 4/2/62; promoted to Capt., date of rank 4/15/62; camp near Grenada, MS 12/11/63 in consequence of continued bad health with which I have been afflicted for the last nine months rendering me wholly unfit to perform the duties of my office and being advised by the Surgeon of my Regiment that my health will not soon return, I deem it my duty to tender my resignation as Capt. of Co. “A” to take effect unconditionally from this date—Surgeon concurs due to chronic enteritis; at Grenada, MS 12/12/62 request 30 days leave of absence; camp near Grenada, MS 12/29/63 in consequence of continued bad health with which I have been afflicted for the last nine months rendering me for the last 3 months or more wholly unfit for military duty, by the advise of my Physician I respectfully tender my resignation to take effect unconditionally from this date; resigned 1/8/63.
Born November 18, 1833 in KY; died April 9, 1892 in Marshall County, KY; buried Bethlehem Cemetery, Marshall County, KY; husband of Martha (Johnston) Staton.
