Thanks to Greg Miller for responding on my quest for some sort of definitive information on the guerilla graveyard that was in Newburg, KY. The guerillas are now buried in individual graves at Haynes Cemetery in northeastern Calloway County, KY. Rusted metal markers now adorn the scattered graves. My ancestor, James P. Vance, is currently buried there after being mortally wounded at Shiloh. He was only 19, and served in the 3rd Kentucky CSA. My cousins and I plan to put some newer markers on the graves later this year. We are contacting TVA HQ in Atlanta which has the exact locations and descriptions of the removal of the graves in the 1940's. My grandfather Henslee was the postmaster at Newburg, and related the story about the guerillas being Union deserters. We are still seeking more information.
