Re: 39th Ga Volunteers Infantry

Thank you so much for the info regarding Madison Morris.
I have found some info that he did return to Co A, Gilmer Light Guard, 65th Regiment, Ga. Vol. they traveled to Atlanta and fought there. He was cut off from his unit and joined up with Co B, LTC Lofton's Regiment, they surrendered at Kingston, Ga 12 May 1865. After the war he applied for a military pension three times but was denied on each application. Several of his fellow officers wrote letters stating they had fought beside him in atlanta and other areas. I have no solid records to verify this info but one source did refer to the "Confederate Records, Vol. 14, Pgs.309 - 316". I do not know what records or how to find it.

Do you know how I can obtain his military records?
Are there any know photos of the 39th Ga Vol.?

I am new at this but find it most interesting. I am retired from 42+ years in law enforcement and investigation/ thrill of the hunt is still in my blood.:)

Thanks for your help.
