The Georgia in the Civil War Message Board

Re: 2nd Georgia Infantry Battalion

Scott,

The information comes from two articles, both by Gregory C. White, that appeared in The Civil War News. Greg is compiling a book on Georgia at Gettysburg. His email (as appears in the articles) is Gcw31ga@mindspring.com

In both the August 2012 and August 2006 articles, Greg mentioned that Granniss was befriended by a Union officer from the 69th Pennsylvania, who carried Granniss to a field hospital. Before his death on July 7, Granniss reportedly gave his sword to this officer. It was sold by his descendants. Greg writes that the sword was featured as Item 343 in Gary Hendershott's Catalog 106, circa 1992. Good luck. Tom
