Shoeless GA Soldiers

The Louisville Courier says there is a soldier in one of the companies at Hopkinsville who never wore a hat. Acting on the maxim of Franklin, he seem determined to keep his head cool. He is certainly an eccentric character, but he has fire in his eye and strength in his arm. Referring to this, the Atlanta Intellegencer says that there are several soldiers in the Georgia army who never wore shoes, and absolutely refused to put them on when supplied by their captains with them.
