In my 1997 book, " A History of the 31st Georgia Volunteer Infantry", (Butternut and Blue), both quotes by Corporal Truett in my chapter on the Gettysburg Campaign came from his June 22, 1863 letter. The source was the Minnie Robertson Smith Collection, Georgia Dept of Archives & History.

As for the correct surname spelling, I seem to recall I encountered a family member 25 years ago or so who indicated "Truett" was used by his branch of the family.
