None of the Confederate attendees associated with GA units were in the actual 1863 battle. Most of the vets were
not in Army of Northern Virginia commands. It does sound like warm bodies were needed for the last big reunion.

Charlie Hicks (Hix) was a body servant at the time of the Gettysburg battle (1863) and may have
been there with his master. He attended the 1913 Gettysburg reunion also, but as a Union vet.
as he joined the USCT in late 1864. He claims he was forced into the Union service as a cook. He
did attend the 1938 reunion as a Confederate. I've not found the proof he was at Gettysburg in
1863.
