Location of 38th GA Inf after Cedar Creek

I have a question. I am trying to locate where someone who was in Staunton, VA on Oct. 20, 1864 would have found the 38th GA Infantry after the Battle of Cedar Creek, VA (Oct. 19, 1864). This would have been Gen. C.A. Evans's Brigade, J.B. Gordon's Division, Jubal Earley's Army of the Valley.
I am trying to follow an officer, on horse back, that left the area of North Georgia/Chattanooga, TN on or about Oct. 6, 1864 and was in Staunton, VA on Oct.20, 1864. (distance today of 445 miles). Staunton was still in Confederate control as the officer requisitioned Oats for his horse on 10/20/64.
