Re: Location of 38th GA Inf after Cedar Creek

Gents, Thanks.

I bought a copy of Hotchkiss' journal from Amazon "like new" paperback for 5.00. One of the most amazing books on every day life among at the HQ staff of Jackson's Second Corps of the ANV. Hotchkiss was and in the engineer corps and started out as a civilian paid engineer. His salary was $10,000 per year. Great wages for 1863. He ask for and was granted a commission. Final rank Major in 1865. It has been a treasure trove of information about the ANV. Many times he was an advisor to Gen. RE Lee as well as Jackson. Great reading. Anyone that wants to see a day to day life of staff officers and their take on battles etc. should get a copy.
