PVT. Company I, 19th Alabama Regiment

Amrstrong was killed at the battle of Chickamauga, GA. He was born in Georgia and moved to Alabama at a young age, where he lived most of his life in Cherokee and Calhoun counties in Alabama. Have not been able to find his burial place and he may have been buried on or near the battle field. He was sometimes listed as A.A. Stewart. (Also looking for his oldest son William Leonard Stewart who also went to war with Armstrong at the age of 17 years. Seems that once W.L. left for the war he is not mentioned again anywhere. He was born about 1849 in AL.)
