Re: Reinterment of federal dead

The link below will tell of 2 unknown Union Soldiers buried in Heard County. Just click on Union Dead.

The one, that is buried in Adamson Cemetery, was found close to Rock Mills, Alabama. Our SCV camp repaired the slab on the grave, it had broken into several pieces. Not sure what date he was found, most likely July 31 or maybe August 1. The name of the cemetery has changed in the last few years, I am going over that way soon, I will get the new name and forward it on to you. During the war there was a church there, and as people in that area died, or moved, the church was forgotten, and was hid from view from the road by woods. Several years ago, the land was sold and the new owners happened upon a building in the woods, it was the church. (although I believe the old original church had been replaced with this one) So the cemetery was renamed back to the original church name. The other grave I have not found, the river at Philpot's Ferry is now part of West Point lake, but I am sure it is still there maybe just on private property.
