Re: Marietta Burials 5th GA

Jim, Found these men from 5th GA. listed as known burials at Marietta according to Larry Blair and Thomas E. Lyles' book:

5th GA
John Davis Co. C
John O. Dinnell Co. C
J. F. Smith Co. K
J.B. Tucker Sgt. Co. D

Other's listed:
J. Cary or Camy Co. D (5th GA or AL)
Graham Oliver Co. D 5th (State?)

In addition I found men from Jackson's Brigade at Chickamauga that included:

1st Georgia (Confederate), 2d Battalion, Maj. James Clarke Gordon.

5th Georgia, Col. Charles P. Daniel.

2d Georgia Battalion Sharpshooters, Maj. Richard H. Whiteley.

5th Mississippi:

Lieut. Col. W. L. Sykes.

Maj. John B. Herring.

8th Mississippi, Col. John C. Wilkinson.

Found one man from the 5th Miss., 5 from the 8th Miss., and two from 1st GA Inf.

It should be noted that men killed all along the Western & Atlanta RR battles were disinterred and sent to Marietta after the war as well as those from Chickamauga.

If we knew a name it sure would be helpful.

Many of the know burials only have an initial, last name only., etc.
Wish I could help more.
