Mr. Jones,

Cumming's Brigade was at Stone Mountain and Decatur being reequipped and resupplied during the time of the Battle of Chickamauga. The brigade did not return to the Chattanooga area until about October 2, 1863.

There may have been some individual soldiers from the regiment from the local area that were still at home that were captured or wounded. I know this is the case with the 39th Georgia. Oh by the way, they had received notification to report to parole camps weeks before but this is when many of the Vicksburg parolees chose not to return to duty.
