Charles A. Dunwody Co. H, 7th Georgia Infantry ( also part of Roswells Battalion, Georgia Cavalry
June 1861. Andersons Brigade, Fields Division, Longstreet's Corps, Army of Northern Virginia mustered in 31 May `1861 for one Year. Elected rank of Lt. At First Manassas, he was part of Bee's group, next to Stonewall Jackson's group when Bee ststed "there he stands, like a stonewall"
Dunwody was wounded in the subsequent charge and rout of the northern invaders.
He returned to Atlanta, built a log cabin, now called Dunwoody ( 2 o's) ga. The cabin is still standing. see also the Dunwody House in Roswell. The Dunwody and Bulloch families interwed and li9ved next door to one another in Roswell. James Dunwody Bulloch, Lt. U.S.N and Commodore in the
Confederate States Navy, and Confederate Agent in Liverpool. He built the CSS Alabama,etc.Ran the blockaid into Savannah with a cargo of arms etc. He wrote "In The Confederate Secret Service" and is buried in Liverpool.His sister was mother to Pres. T. Roosevelt
Bulloche 1/2 Brother, Irvin was the longest Confederate navy man, serving in Norfolk and on the Alabama and the Shenandoah. Charles Dunwody's brother Henry Dunwody, Captain C.S./A. Co.A 51st Ga. Infantry, Sims Brigade, Londstreet's Corp. Killed 2 July 1863, Gettysburg. He had many other relatives in the CSA.
