I cannot answer your question, but I too am looking for details about this battle as well as others that occured in the defense of Atlanta. I am doing research on a Virginia doctor who was transfered to the 30th Alabama Inf. in the Army of Tennessee and want to follow the action of these Alabama troops from Dalton, GA to Jonesboro. FYI this same doctor was transfered back to Virginia and into the 38th GA Inf. when the 30th Ala. started their march that would end up in Nashville. Let me know what you find.
