Robert, all of these men came from Regiments in the brigade. Does he have his records? If not, when did he join the Sharpshooters? That would fix the flag in use by the brigade regiments.Using their regimental flag as a starting point would be appropriate, but still not completely accurate. Have him visit www.7miss.org for more on the brigade. Should get ideas there. Also if he surrendered in NC with the Sharpshooters, we have compiled a short bio on all men including their original enlistment records. These men would all have records in the 9th Miss.
