Sorry about that. The article is from the July 20, 1893 issue of the Sacramento Daily Union newspaper. You can read it on the California Digital Newspaper Collection website (http://cdnc.ucr.edu). Here is a partial transcription: "A Confederate Battle-Flag. Mrs. Ida Kise-Fordemwalt of Oak Park writes...I have the flag which my uncle, Colonel William C. Kise, captured from the Southern forces at the battle of Mill Springs. It is pierced by many bullets and by a cannon ball that killed my uncle's horse. It has inscribed on the white stripe: Conasauga Volunteers-Presented by the Ladies of the Valley."
