In Richard Armstrong's unit history of the 25th Virginia Inf. (1990)
He states on pg. 23 that Robert E. Lee presented a flag to the
"Augusta Lee Rifles" on July 29th 1861 at Monterey, Va.
However, the Staunton Spectator of June 11, 1861 describes a flag
presentation to this same company and makes no mention of General
Lee.
Does anyone know what Armstrong's source was for this statement?
Anyone have contact info for Mr. Armstrong?
