The pink field was for the ANV silk flags issued in late November 1861 into January 1862. The Richmond Depot flags were red wool bunting. The summer of 1862 is when the silk flags were being largely replaced by the bunting flags as they were much more durable.

Now unless there is an ANV silk flag for St. Paul's Battalion with these honors that I am not aware of - or the newspaper guy got the color wrong - this should be the ANV First Bunting flag in New Orleans.

Hopefully Ken Legendre can jump in on this one.
