Re: regimental colors in camp
In Response To: regimental colors in camp ()

Taken from the Regulations for the Army of the Confederate States, 1863, Camp of Infantry, para. 503.

Para. 503: Each company has its tents in two files, facing on a street perpendicular to the color line.

The color line is ten paces in front of the front rank of tents.

To the rear in ranks in order are:

Kitchens; Non Comm. Staff; Company Officers; Field & Staff; Baggage Train

The total width of the Regimental Formation is 400 paces.

The diagram of the Camp of a Regiment of Infantry, page 54, depicts two Flags on the Color line, in the center of that line.

There is no description re colors, however, the two flags seem to depict the Confederate First National. This however, is only conjecture on my part.
